Definitely NOT!
I think it\'s the best EF-S zoom lens that Canon ever made.

And since there is only ONE 10MP APS-C DSLR in Canon Family, 400D would be the best body for revealing the extra-ordinary optical performance of this gorgeous lens.

EF-S lens will not retain their value as L-lenses over time, though. But if you will stay in APS frame for more than 2 years then you have no other better choice than this one. Kind of thing happened also in SONY DSLR lenses, everybody want a ZA 16-80 even it is APS-only \'cause that is the best zoom lens even in your dream.
